Eurasian Conference "Coronavirus Pandemic: Diagnosis, Treatment and Consequences"

Employees of the Department of Internal Medicine and residents in the specialty "Pulmonology" took part in the III Eurasian Conference "Coronavirus Pandemic: Diagnosis, Treatment and Consequences" which took place on April 27-28, 2022, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The conference was attended by delegates from a number of countries: Israel, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Moldova and Belarus.

At the plenary session, the organizers of the conference welcomed the rector of the Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors, AZERBAIJAN, Professor Nazim Gasimov, Editor-in-Chief of the Israel Medical Association Journal, Professor Dr. Yehuda Shoenfeld, Rector of the Ariel University, Head of the Laboratory of Behavioral and Molecular Psychiatry, Adelson School of Medicine, Israel, Professor Albert Pinhasov. The conference addressed issues on the diagnosis of COVID-19, emergency medical care, treatment, consequences of the course of the disease, vaccination, innovative approaches to patient care, and prevention of coronavirus infection.

 Irina Viktorovna Bacheva, Associate Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine at the section of the conference "Consequences of  COVID-19 and common mistakes in patient management" made a report on the topic "Maternal mortality from COVID-19: analysis of a series of 33 cases". The report aroused the interest of the audience with a discussion of topical issues of maternal and child health during the pandemic.

Doctoral student of the Department of Internal Medicine Aissulu Issabekova presented the topic of the report “Microbiological Aspects of  COPD Exacerbation during the COVID-19 Pandemic”, which also aroused the interest of the conference participants with a discussion of a number of questions on effective and rational antibiotic therapy in the treatment of COVID-19 in moderate and severe cases diseases with the exchange of experience in managing patients by specialists from different countries.

Resident pulmonologists who attended the conference gained experience in a multidisciplinary approach to patients during the period of  COVID-19 illness and after infection. The staff of the department discussed the possibilities of international cooperation in carrying out further scientific work with the staff of the Israeli University of Ariel.

 At the end of the conference, the delegates got acquainted with the sights and historical monuments of the city of Baku: the Gobustan State Historical and Artistic Archaeological Reserve, the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ateshgah fire temple, revered by Zoroastrians, Hindus and Sikhs.
