Pharmacology without borders

From October 17 to October 28, 2022 as a part of academic mobility for the 3rd year students of a foreign department in the specialty "General Medicine", a training was organized for a clinical pharmacist by the representative of the Evidence-Based Network in New Zealand, the editorial director of New Zealand Formulary and the Formulary for Children New Zealand, Professor of the School of Pharmacy of the University of Auckland (New Zealand) David Woods.

  For several years, the professor has been actively collaborating with the S. Kairbekova National research center for health development with the Association of Clinical Pharmacologists of Kazakhstan. As a clinical adviser he took a part in the formation of the first Kazakhstan National Formulary.

  Currently, he is collaborating with medical universities, actively participating in educational activities. Professor David Woods has been collaborating with our university for the past 5 years, annually conducting master classes for students at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Evidence-Based Medicine under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Ph.D., Associate Professor Kaliyeva Sholpan. This year, the master class by D. Woods was focused on the topics of general pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, interactions of drugs and adverse drug reactions, the issues of basic pharmacology of the main pharmacological groups of drugs under the methodological support of the associate professor of the department Yukhnevich Y.

  The information presented aroused great interest among students, and David Woods noted the active work of students of the foreign faculty and expressed hope for the development of further plans and new stages of cooperation.
