Current issues in the fight against hiv infection

The consolidation efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS has become a major objective of the international conference held in Karaganda state medical university on the 22-23 of May.

Republican international scientific and practical conference with international participation was devoted to the 25th anniversary of the Karaganda Regional Center for AIDS. «Actual issues of HIV-infection», stated in the title of the forum, considered in five key areas. The conference participants considered such important issues as the epidemiological situation of HIV in Kazakhstan, topical issues of clinical and preventive medicine in the sphere of HIV, the modern campaigns to HIV treatment, laboratory diagnosis of HIV-infection, modern approaches to disease prevention and formation healthy lifestyle.

It should be noted that HIV infection is one of the most important socio-economic problems of modern society. In 90s it began to spread rapidly in our country. One major factor here was the involvement in the epidemic process user groups. Today the situation with HIV gained new perspectives. So real was the threat of the spread of HIV among affluent segments of the population because of increasing heterosexual transmission of HIV and the birth of children born to HIV -infected women.

 HIV constantly presents new surprises. And to provide the direction in which it will begin to distribute «tentacles» virtually impossible. However, constantly new types of HIV/AIDS offered, which need to be verified for inclusion in the rank of the response at the national and international level. Changing body of knowledge and skills needed to respond to emerging problems. All this requires the mobilization and consolidation of scientists, both at national and international level. All of these current problems and became the subject of discussion at the conference.

The conference was held master classes, satellite symposia. An important part of the forum was the exhibition of laboratory equipment and new drugs. She became a demonstration of modern methods of combating HIV/AIDS.

Conference participants addressed such issues as the safety of donated blood, analysis of the incidence of HIV among drug users, electronic information system in the service of AIDS, HIV infection among pregnant women in the Karaganda region, modern diagnosis of HIV and opportunistic infections in the area. Among the speakers were leading national and international experts in the field of infectious diseases.
