Kazakhstan is the secular state

Karaganda state medical university systematically takes measures for religious extremism and terrorism prevention. Another meeting with students was held on October 29, 2014, in the events hall of the dormitory №2. The meeting was organized by the Commission for religious extremism and terrorism prevention at the Council for educational work. The outreach group consisted of an assistant rector of KSMU Archimedes Omurzakovich Sauhymov, a theologian of KSU "Center for the study and analysis of the problems of interfaith relations" Karshyga Baybekovich Zhanabayev, a chairman of the Commission for religious extremism and terrorism prevention Tolganay Vagizovna Mustafina.

In the speech T.V. Mustafina got across the students the information about the State program for religious extremism and terrorism prevention for 2013-2017. According to this program the measures are taken to prevent the influence of radical religious movements with the population of the country, including 100% youth coverage.

In his speech, the theologian K. B. Zhanabayev drew the students’ attention to the traditional values of the Kazakh people, explained the key points of conservation and sustainable development of interfaith and inter-ethnic relations in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting the students asked questions about the concepts of "Salaf", "Wahhabism", "Jihad" and the motives of compatriots who went to the hot zones. The students were explained that the reasons for such motives may be the lack of critical perception, misinterpretation of religious ideas, the influence of foreign ideologies alien to the mentality of the people of Kazakhstan.

At the conclusion of the meeting the attention of the students was once again drew to the basic values of Kazakhstan as a secular state.
