On October 27, 2023, Regional Judo Championship among men and women was held in Karaganda.  9 students participated from the team of NCJSC "Karaganda Medical University": Gulmira Ashykbai, group 4006 GM (weight category – 48 kg), Kymbat Isenova, group 4029 GM (weight category – 52 kg), Aibota Nurpeyis, group 3-005 TPP (weight category – 57 kg), Ayaulym Isakhova, group 2-011 GM (weight category – 70 kg), Bibiunur Baskar, group 4-019 GM (weight category – 78 kg), Kamilla Kyrykbai, group 2002 BM (weight category – 78 kg), Bekzhan Nurgali, group 2002 GM (weight category – 66 kg), Nurym Zhumabaev, group 2002 GM (weight category – 66 kg), Bekmurad Kenzheev, School of residency (weight category – 100 kg).  In total, 89 participants took part in the tournament.  

All athletes of the University successfully made it to the finals, but only Gulmira Ashykbai won a gold medal. All of the men who participated demonstrated a worthy struggle. Bekmurad Kenzheev held two most difficult fights, losing to an athlete from Karaganda region in the fight for the bronze medal and reached the finals on the fifth place of the standing.
