Memory Day of people died from AIDS

Memorial Day of people who died from AIDS is held every year on the third Sunday of May all over the world. This year it was on May 15, 2015. A seminar “HIV and modernity” was held in this year on May 15, 2015, at the department of infectious diseases and dermatology. It was dedicated to the date. Participants of the seminar were students of 4, 6, 7 years, also 2nd year students were invited of 2-075, 2-076 groups of specialty General Medicine, 3rd year students of the specialty Dentistry, residents, employees of regional infectious diseases hospital.

The main purpose of the event was to remember those who claimed the epidemic, to inform and mobilize the society, get to think about what trouble can affect anyone. Currently, the HIV epidemic is a threat to life, health and well-being of the population, including the Republic of Kazakhstan, has economic, social consequences.

Lyrical sounds of compositions of Beethoven, "Candle" conjures up thoughts about this global problem sounded in the lecture hall. Solemn and quiet mood of participants determined the decoration of the hall, posters on the walls, made by students of 3-003, 3-004 groups of the specialty Dentistry, the scarlet ribbons on the lapels of white robes, candles burning in the hands of students and teachers.

History of HIV was reminded by Chinaliev Timur, a student of 4-077 group GM. The questions, as "did HIV come from animals?", "Did HIV come from Africa?", "Is HIV become more dangerous now?", caused interest among the audience and a relaxed style of presentation have risen a sympathy. Deep and meaningful performance was a presentation of Kydyralieva Madina, students of 4-103 group GM, who addressed issues of HIV infection in the world and in Kazakhstan, the main routes of transmission and risk factors for infection. She reported that in Africa the leading countries in the prevalence of HIV infection are Swaziland and Botswana, outside of Africa are Haiti, and Trinidad and Tobago, on the Eurasian continent, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan is at the ninth position.

The clinical morbidity of HIV infection at different stages of the disease with the comments has been reported by intern Dzhalzhanova Gauhar of 6-032 group GM (ID). It is important to know and understand the algorithm of researches for HIV infection, diagnostic methods, so this message presented by Prosvetova Eugeniya, students of 4-091 group GM was relevant.

Teachers of the department commented on the status of HIV infection in Kazakhstan and Karaganda region. Currently, in Kazakhstan 25,000 patients were registered with HIV, in the Karaganda Regional Center for Prevention and Control of AIDS - 2243 patients. Since 1995, HIV/AIDS 1770 patients have died (in Karaganda region). Very depressing statistics show that from January 2015, 64 patients have died, 11 of them at the stage of AIDS. Adults and children suffered from HIV-infection. Presently, 34 HIV-infected children were registered. Man and woman are infected. Also, 24 pregnant women are registered now. From January 2015 new cases of HIV infection was discovered - 110 people! It was a depressing example of infection of five girls with the same sexual partner, criminal concealed about his illness.

On this Memory day, people around the world remember the relatives, friends, acquaintances died of AIDS. This event is aimed to warn people, especially students about the risk of infection and to teach them to avoid danger. Against this mortal danger basic measure of protection is reasonable safe behavior. It is very simply to get sick, you have to put yourself at risk once, it is enough! Keep this in mind, take care of your health and the health of people you care about! Protect yourself from HIV!
