For the period from 4 to 23 May, 3^rd year student of Nursing care specialty, of preventive medicine, biology, pharmacy Department had a practical training «Nursing of care of general practice» at the Novosibirsk State Medical University (Russia), as part of the program of academic mobility.

Field study in Russia has given us vital experience. The main advantage of our stay in Novosibirsk we have defined as the ability to work in the team and apply all  theoretical skills to practice, directly on patients.

We had practice mainly in urban teaching hospitals for adults, but we had a chance to visit the department of pediatrics. City Children's Hospital №1 is one of the largest medical facilities for children, its structure has all the necessary departments such as infectious, pediatric, surgical, etc. Treatment and care is carried out here by experienced physicians and nurses with many years of work, and not less great and kind heart. It is clear that the workwith the younger age group of patients is the most difficult and requires patience, endurance, and increased responsibility not only to children but also to their parents.

One of the most high-tech health care facilities in the Novosibirsk city is the City Clinical Hospital № 2. Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Department of the Hospital is fully equipped with new high-tech apparatus and instruments for treating and improving the health of patients. The availability of these systems provides a favorable outcome in the treatment of many diseases, enables around the clock and effective monitoring of patients of all ages. We spent a bit of time in this department, but gained an enormous amount of skills in  nursing care of patients. Such as thermometry, oral rehabilitation, feeding patients,debriding of patients, shift of underwear and bed linen, transportation of bedridden patients. Also, under the supervision of nurses, we have produced such manipulations as setting of intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, catheterization of the bladder in men and women, lung auscultation and identification of noise and determination of the nature of respiration, ECG monitoring.

Also, in addition to nursing care for patients and manipulations, we carried out the work with the patient’s medical records, admission and discharge registers, reviewed the documentation department in the department of gynecology and surgery.

It can be concluded that the field study in another country, even in neighboring countries, this is a great experience, not only in teaching, but also for life. We had a chance to work in a team of medical staff of various hospitals and different age groups, to assist in decision-making and participation in the life of hospital departments. We have not only adopted the experience of our colleagues from Russia, but also had a chance to share our’s experience.

We are the students of 3rd year specialty Nursing care, very grateful to our University (KSMU) for the opportunity to pass training and work experience in Russia. It was nice to know that we are some of those who had the honor to represent our university and our republic in another country.
