Last Friday on the 19^th of June at the Palace of Peace and Accord in Astana at a solemn event dedicated to the Day of the medical worker, they were awarded the winners of the contest «The best in profession», which is held annually by the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The nomination «The best scientist» was won by Ilya Suleimanovich Azizov – Director of the Research Center of Karaganda State Medical University.

I. S. Azizov for more than 15 years is conducting the monitoring of drug resistance of microorganisms, biochemical mechanisms of oxidative stress in prokaryotes, applied aspects of modern information technologies in the laboratory. Ilya Suleimanovich is deputy editor of the journal «Medicine and Ecology», the member of the editorial board of the journal «Laboratory medicine». I. S. Azizov is a Member of the Interregional Association for Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (IACMAC), International Society of Infection Diseases (ISID), European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infection Diseases, American Society of Microbiology.

We heartily congratulate Ilya Suleimanovich with his deserved victory and we wish not to stop at what has been accomplished! New victories, great discoveries, talented pans and inexhaustible optimism for the benefit of our university and the health of the Republic of Kazakhstan!
