On October 13 and 14, 2022, the International Congress «Innovations in Primary Health Care» was held, dedicated to the 44th anniversary of the Alma-Ata Declaration and the 4th anniversary of the Astana Declaration on Primary Health Care, which was held in Taraz. The organizers of the Congress were the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Health Department of the Akimat of Zhambyl region, the National Association «Primary Health Care» (Republic of Kazakhstan).

The participants of the Congress were the European Center of the World Health Organization for Primary Health Care, the National Scientific Center for Health Development named after Salidat Kairbekova, the Republican Center for E-Health, the National Center for Mental Health, Health Departments of regions, cities of Republican Significance and the capital, the NAO «Medical Insurance Fund» and its branches, Foreign experts from CIS and Europe, Medical universities and medical colleges, Non-governmental organizations, PHC organizations.

The NJSC «Medical University of Karaganda» was represented by PhD, Professor and Director of the Institute of Public Health and Occupational Health Omarkulov Bauyrzhan Kadenovich, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Family Medicine Yugai Margarita Nikolaevna, Master of Medicine, Assistant Professor of the Department of Family Medicine Serikova Maya Sagyndykovna.

The two-day Congress was filled with a very interesting and informative program of the event. On the first day, from 08:00 to 16:00, there was a visit to rural and urban Centers of best practices in PHC (CBP in PHC): Central District Hospital of Merken district (Merke village), City Polyclinic No. 5 of Taraz, Central District Hospital of Zhambyl district (Asa village), Central District Hospital of Talas district (G. Karatau). Then there was registration, opening of the Congress, greeting and speech of the Congress participants. The next day, a plenary session was held before lunch and after lunch breakout sessions (5 sections) were held: 1 - section «Effective approaches in quality management of medical care at the PHC level», 2 - section «Progressive technologies for improving public health based on a person-oriented approach by a multidisciplinary PHC team», 3 - section «Financial innovations and project management in PHC», 4 - section «Information technology as a tool to support business management processes PHC and public relations», 5 - the section «Innovation and modern paradigms in nursing at the primary level in healthcare», where the report of the 2nd-year doctoral student of the educational program «Nursing Science» Serikova Saltanat Nurzhanovna on the topic «Innovations in nursing practice; Service design approach in the development of nursing services» was presented.

After the breakout sessions, there was a discussion of the results of the work of the section and summing up, there was a hearing of draft resolutions on each section and, eventually, the resolution of the international congress was adopted.
