As part of educational work, on November 30, 2022, an event was held at the School of Pharmacy, timed to coincide with the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan - December 16. In the event organized by Tulebayev Ye.A. - a teacher of the School of Pharmacy, about 100 students of 2-3 courses of the specialties "Pharmacy" and "Technology of pharmaceutical production" took part.

The development of the pharmaceutical sector of the economy is of great strategic, social and economic importance for the Republic of Kazakhstan, because medicines play a key role in the prevention and treatment of disease. Drug safety and drug independence is one of the components of the national security of the state.

During the years of independencein Kazakhstan, the pharmaceutical industry began to develop rapidly. To date, about 80 domestic pharmaceutical enterprises producing drugs and medical products are represented on the pharmaceutical market. At the meeting, students got acquainted with the history of the formation of some of those that still provide our population with medicines: Santo Company (formerly Chimfarm JSC, Shymkent), Phytochemistry IRPH JSC (Karaganda), Fitoleum LLP (Kyzyl Mai, Almaty), etc.

During the event, students of the School of Pharmacy learned about how domestic pharmacy was born and developed, about the first pharmacies, about the first certified pharmacists, such as K.M. Umekenov, about the first Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Republic, Professor K.U. Ushbayev, about Kazakh scientists who have made an invaluable contribution to the development of domestic pharmaceutical science and education - about Pharm.D., Professor R.D. Dilbarkhanov, M.D., Professor D.M. Dzhangozina, Pharm.D, Professor R.M. Abdullabekova, D.Sci.Chem., Professor S.M. Adekenov, Pharm.D, Professor T.A. Arystanova and many others. Students got acquainted with their scientific, educational and methodical works, with scientific discoveries and developments of our scientists - "Antigrippinum" and "Antigrippinum P" (R.M. Abdullabekova et al.), an antitumor agent "Arglabin" (S.M. Adekenov) and about others.

Within the framework of the meeting, a mini-quiz was also held, in which all the students present took an active part. With their answers, they showed great interest in their specialty and success in the pharmaceutical industry of our Independent Kazakhstan.

We would like to express our gratitude to the students, staff of the dean's office, teaching staff of the School of Pharmacy for organizing and participating, as well as teachers of the Department of Evidence-Based Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology for their help in collecting materials for this event.
