Pharmacy - moving forward!

25 April 2023

On April 13-14, 2023, the international student scientific and practical conference "Pharmacy - moving forward!" was held, timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the school of pharmacy and the celebration of Science Day in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The conference was also held on the eve of the VIth Central Asian Conference on Medical Education and clearly showed how academic education can be integrated with the involvement of students and emerging scientists in real scientific research.

More than 150 applications were submitted for participation in the conference, 52 students from five countries of the world - Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, made presentations at the conference in five sections. The conference was held in a combined format, participants from abroad had the opportunity to make presentations online.

At the plenary session, the Chairman of the Board - Rector Anar Akylbekovna Turmukhambetova made a welcoming speech, noting the importance of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences for the healthcare system and improving medical practice.

With special trepidation, a 3rd year student of the school of pharmacy Shtefanova Ekaterina presented a report on the history of the formation of the school of pharmacy at the Medical University of Karaganda.

Samorodov Alexander Vladimirovich, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Pharmacology with a Course of Clinical Pharmacology of the Bashkir State Medical University, took part in the conference as a guest. Within the framework of the program of visiting professors, he conducted lectures and classes with students of the School of Pharmacy for a week. His report "Drugs: From Virtual to Real" showed young researchers the whole difficult path of developing a new drug from idea to implementation in clinical practice.

Within the framework of the conference, students met with representatives of employers - JSC Research and Production Holding "Phytochemistry", a unique enterprise where a number of original medicines are developed and produced based on our domestic medicinal resources. An extensive exhibition of the Holding's products was presented, Director of the Karaganda pharmaceutical plant, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tolokonnikov Evgeniy Gennadievich in his report presented the prospects for the development of the Karaganda pharmaceutical cluster, which combines the scientific potential of «Phytochemistry»JSC IRPH, the production potential of «Karaganda Pharmaceutical Plant» LLP and the educational one of «Medical University of Karaganda» NCJSC, emphasizing the importance of developing the practice of dual pharmaceutical education.

Student reports had a variety of topics and were divided into five sections:

Section 1. Traditions and innovations in pharmacy, pharmaceutical education and science;

Section 2. Topical issues of chemical-pharmaceutical, biological and medical sciences and pharmacology;

Section 3. Management and marketing in pharmacy;

Section 4. Actual aspects of the quality assurance system in pharmacy;

Section 5. Modern approaches to the development and production of medicines and parapharmaceutical products.

The level of student work was very high, it clearly demonstrated the active involvement of students of pharmaceutical specialties of domestic and foreign universities in scientific research, the desire of future pharmacists and technologists to develop new innovative technologies, new approaches to the creation and production of medicines, new ways to improve the system of drug supply to the population.

At each of the breakout sessions, the best research papers were identified. All participants received certificates of participation, the works noted by the jury received diplomas of 1,2,3 degrees. Among the best reports are the works of students: Kaliaskar A.S., Khamitova A.A., Savelyev A.F., Abamusilim Ye.S., Manasbayeva P.M., Sagymbekova N.A., Ravshanov A.Kh. (students of the School of Pharmacy KMU NCJSC), Kukov D.V. (Ryazan State Medical University, Ryazan, Russia), Khoshimova M.L. (TSMU named after Abuali ibn Sino, Dushanbe, Tajikistan), Zhirova A.Yu. (KSMU, Kursk, Russia), Ibragimova A.R. (KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov), Dubovitskaya O.V. (SPSCPU, St. Petersburg, Russia).
