Hospital on wheels goes to villages

Hospital on wheels goes to villages

27 September 2023

In order to ensure the availability of medical services this year, a team of doctors from the Karaganda Medical University visited villagers in remote rural settlements of Shet and Nura districts.

As part of the mobile medical complex, the reception of patients was conducted by the academic staff of the Schools of General Medicine and Nursing Education of our University, and doctors: general practitioner, cardiologist, surgeon, neurologist, gynecologist, ophthalmologist and pediatrician, a specialist from practical healthcare. Instrumental and laboratory research methods have been used.

The MMC covered 46 settlements, provided counselling and preventative care to 3,314 children and 639 adults.

The doctors had every opportunity to do so – a large KAMAZ equipped with medical equipment with a bright emblem of the University, in fact, it is a mini-clinic on wheels with a fully autonomous life support system, professional medical experience and a great desire to help the villagers to be healthy.

The problem of access to medical services for residents of remote rural areas (Nura, Bukhar-Zhyrau, Osakarov, Abay, Shet districts) has been addressed by the Karaganda Medical University since 2010. The MMC goes to the village in the summer and returns in the autumn. It has become a good tradition and the sincere gratitude of the villagers confirms this.

N.N. Sedach, Head of MMC
