Given the onset of the epidemic season for acute respiratory viral infections, influenza and pneumonia, the staff of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Phthisiology of NCJSC "KMU" actively participated in conducting seminars/lectures in the supervised areas from September to October 2023.

The seminar was attended by about 500 healthcare professionals of Karaganda and Karaganda region, Ulytau region, Zhezkazgan and Kostanai. The lecturers covered the main issues related to this topic, as well as presented cases of observation from practice, during the consultation of patients with acute respiratory viral infections, influenza and pneumonia in the Hospital for Infectious Disease of Karaganda.

1. At the outpatient polyclinic level, ambulance – early detection of clinical manifestations of diseases, timely sorting, home treatment and hospitalization based on medical conditions.

2. Inpatient level (infectious disease department) – early start of treatment (anticipatory nature) in order to prevent the progression of the disease and development of complications. Monitoring of comorbid diseases.

3. Inpatient level (ICU) - intensive therapy, resuscitation therapy, in order to prevent an unfavorable outcome.

4. Outpatient level - effective respiratory, psychological rehabilitation and more.

For this purpose, the population is recommended to avoid crowded places, poorly ventilated rooms, wear a mask, observe personal hygiene and timely get vaccinated against influenza.

Also on September 27, 2023, RANS academician, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Phthisiology R. Kh. Begaidarova appeared on "Saryarka" channel, in the program "Arka Life" on the topic: measles, influenza vaccination. The issues of growth in measles in children were discussed, preventive measures and vaccination efforts against influenza in the epidemic season were highlighted. 

On September 22, 2023, a regional seminar on clinic, diagnosis, treatment, laboratory diagnosis and prevention of acute respiratory viral infections, influenza and pneumonia was held in Kostanai. Professor Emeritus R. Kh. Begaidarova made two reports at this seminar on the following topics:

1. "Diagnosis and treatment of acute respiratory viral infections, influenza and pneumonia in children".

2. "The burden of pneumococcal infection in children through the eyes of a children’s infectious disease specialist."

Another seminar was held on September 28, 2023 with the participation of Professor R. Kh. Begaidarova, and Associate Professor, PhD E.S. Zhunusov in the cities: Karaganda, Saran, Temirtau, Abay, Shakhtinsk, Balkhash, Ulytau (Zhezkazgan).

From October 2 to October 4, 2023, Professor R.Kh. Begaidarova spoke at the seminar for ambulance doctors of Karaganda, Saran, Temirtau, Abay, Shakhtinsk, Balkhash on the topic: "Influenza and acute respiratory viral infections: prevention and treatment in the epidemic season."
