From 3 to 9 of October, 2014 the 1^st  Republican championship on rugby among student teams was held in Taldy-Kurgan. Eight collectives representing seven cities of Kazakhstan such as Astana, Almaty, Taraz, Taldy-Kurgan, Karaganda and Aktau participated in the tournament. The primary purpose of tournament  is to unite all clubs, which develop amateur rugby in Kazakhstan and to provide the playing practice to the young teams. It is pleasant, that the team of Karaganda state medical university also took part in the first championship. The fact of participating in such a tournament testifies to the prospects of development of this type of sport in our university. And though the section of rugby exists only the second year, but already four our students worked their way from rookies to players of the Karaganda region team: Amankaraev Madi (gr.5-021), Tuleuov Arlan (gr.2-044),  Maralbay Arman (gr.3-025) and captain of team  Estaev Zangar (gr.5-031).

  Rugby is a hard sport, therefore it is not surprising, that all games of tournament passed in a hard fight, as the saying goes: "Nobody wanted to loose"! It was expected that a main fight would traditionally develop between the teams of south regions - Almaty and owners of competitions. Modest rookie besides presenting "unprofile" medical university nobody perceived seriously, but the series of victories on a start and the rugby-players of КSMU compelled to talk about itself, as about one of opening of tournament. And only an one defeat, from the future winner of tournament ZGU (Taldy-Kurgan), gave up for lost on champion ambitions of Karaganda team. Thus, in a finale the sportsmen of the Zhetysu state university, the base club of the national team, without effort understood with the team of the Almaty technical university and became the first champions of Kazakhstan among student teams. In a match for the third place our team overcame the team of the Almaty state university and became the possessor of bronze medals.

  With the impressions from a tournament we asked to captain of our team, candidate in masters of sport on rugby Estaev Zangar :

  - How you estimate the last championship?

  - I want to say that tournament is very necessary. Rugby is not very popular in  Kazakhstan, therefore there are not so much competitions as desirable.

  - But as does estimate the performance of the command?

  - Tournament showed we move in right direction. Third place for a debutant is the result more than enough. And although while we can’t  to fight with leaders as equal, but also boys for beating it is exact not about us.

  -What plans on a season?

  - We continue intensive preparation to the main start of season -  summer  Spartakiad of people of Kazakhstan in Almaty.

  Then I want to invite in our section of all persons interested to try the forces in a real masculine game: Fellows, rugby is the sport for the real men, so come! It was desirable yet that training was conducted by a skilled trainer that for us is not present. It is also in plans to create women rugby team in KSMU.
